When switching from an Android device to an iPhone, you should deregister and disable RCS (Rich Communication Services) on your Android before transferring your SIM. If RCS remains active, texts from Android users may continue using the chat protocol and fail to deliver properly to your new iPhone. To fix this, go to Messages → Settings → Chat Features → Toggle off RCS before switching.
